LATS Instructor Lina-Maria Murillo Featured in Publications Analyzing Effects of Dobbs Decision

In the wake of the landmark Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court this June, many are asking what the effects will be on maternal and reproductive health care, racial and gender equality, voter motivations and turnout, and more. LATS instructor Dr. Lina-Maria Murillo has contributed her expertise on the issue in two prominent publications.

In 2021-22, Raquel Valladolid is a second-year student from Sioux City, Iowa, majoring in Spanish and English and Creative Writing with minors in Latina/o/x studies, communication studies, and translation for global literacy. While at the University of Iowa, she hopes to develop her skills as an editor and translator. Her article, "The Fourth Dimension: How Intersectionality Complicates Belonging" was published in the fall 2021 UI Honors Program Newsletter (pp. 17 - 18).

Her talk is entitled, “La Margaret Sanger of the Border: Guadalupe Arizpe de La Vega, Population Control, and Mexico's Maquiladora System.”
